Foreword is a place to read and share honest, first-hand stories of life with cancer, written by the people who have actually lived it. Find someone whose diagnosis, stage, and situation look like yours, and read their story in their own words.
I looked for something like Foreword when I got my diagnosis, but I couldn't find it. When you or someone you love is diagnosed, the clinical facts are everywhere. The lived experience is not. It's scattered across forums, group chats, and half-remembered conversations. The unglamorous, specific truth of what it's actually like is the hardest thing to find, and often the most reassuring.
So I made a home for it. Every profile is one person's story, broken into chapters like diagnosis, treatment, side effects, daily life, and what comes after, so you can jump to the part you need. It's peer experience, not medical advice. But sometimes hearing “I went through this too, and here's what helped” is exactly what gets you to the next appointment.
I wrote a lot during treatment too, and learned more about myself than I expected. This is where I'm putting it, in case it is useful to whoever is sitting where I sat.
It's also why it's called Foreword. A foreword is the part of a book someone else writes, before the story begins. That felt right for stories you read before living your own.
